Developing Story: Terrorist Attack at Eagles of Death Metal Concert in Paris

UPDATE November 13th, 9:36 PM: CNN is reporting that 4 attackers were killed in the earlier police raid of the Betaclan concert venue. This is a change from the earlier statement that said only two attackers were killed. 3 of the 4 attackers killed were wearing explosive belts.

UPDATE November 13th, 9:14 PM: French officials say that gunmen from Paris attacks are still at large. At least 153 reportedly killed in Paris attacks over all, with 112 of those being from the Betaclan Theatre attack.

UPDATE November 13th, 8:54 PM: According to NPR and Paris prosecutor Francois Molins, the death toll of the Paris attacks could go past 120.

UPDATE November 13th 2015, 8:41PM: Two members of Eagles Of Death Metal are still unaccounted for, according to the LA Times. Michael Dorio, the brother of Eagles of Death Metal’s touring drummer Julian Dorio, gave the following statement to ABC7 News:

“He said they were playing, about six songs into the show, and they heard, before they saw anything, they heard automatic machine gunfire. And it was so loud, it was louder than the band, and they all hit the stage floor. And as they got up to try to evacuate they saw men with machine guns just shooting anything and everything in the venue.”

UPDATE November 13th 2015,  8:26 PM: The Daily Telegraph has shared video of French President Francois Hollande arriving at the Bataclan Theatre after the attacks.

Not too long ago, Jared Leto, the front man for Thirty Seconds to Mars, tweeted the possibility of a Thirty Seconds to Mars crew member being apart of the tragedy.

ORIGINAL POST November 13th 2015, 7:46 PM: A hostage situation has just ended at the Bataclan Theatre, where the American band Eagles of Death Metal were playing. The hostage situation started when several gunmen entered the venue and opened fire at random for “10 horrific minutes,” a witness told CNN. The attack was a part of a larger chain of terrorist attacks in Paris, where at least six other shootings took place and three explosions went off at the National Stadium. French president Francious Hollande was at the National Stadium attending a match at the time.

The hostage situation ended after police raided the Bataclan Theatre, killing two attackers and bringing out at least 100 hostages, a lot of whom appeared to be wounded. According to CNN, there is 118 people reportedly killed at the venue so far.

Eagles Of Death Metal have shared an official statement through their Facebook page, which can be found below:

“We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all of our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.”

There’s a lull in attacks currently, but France is still in a state of emergency.
