A tweet from rapper Waka Flocka Flame in 2012, stating that he was “dead ass running for president in 2016” apparently wasn’t a joke. Wakka Flocka Flame, also known as Juaquin James Malphurs, announced yesterday on 4/20 that he would be running for president in 2016. And it’s not a joke.
Malphurs posted a video through Rolling Stone yesterday, announcing his candidacy and what he represented as a presidential candidate. Some of the mandates that he discussed were legalizing weed, banning dogs in restaurants, and making sure that people with size 13 feet and above had to take the train instead of walking. Malphurs also said that minimum wage should be raised to $15 an hour, and that it wasn’t so much about women’s rights as “respect for women.”
This isn’t the first time that Malphurs has been in politics, either. Back in March, he was on “Erin Burnnett Out Front” to discuss the then recently released video of University of Oklahoma’s SAE fraternity participating in racial chants. It’s not clear on who will make up his campaign staff just yet, or how his policies will change, but Waka Flocka Flame is definitely a candidate for 2016. You can watch his announcement video below.
