He has been selling out venues all over the country, and his show at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights, Ohio Saturday February 28,2015 was no exception. Allen has stated that “Basically my job is to throw a party for people every night when we’re on tour,” and he did just that.

The party kicked off with Chris Jamison, a Pittsburgh based singer/songwriter who was on Team Adam on NBC’s The Voice season 7. He took the stage and let loose with his soulful voice and crazy enthusiasm, dancing around the stage. You could tell that he really does enjoy performing. His set was not rushed and his groove was right in the pocket. Tight, really tight! He did Marvin Gay justice with his cover of “Sexual Healing,” and he closed his set out with his new single “Velvet” that is nothing but smooth soul. I would have to say that Chris was a great choice for Allen to kick off his party with!

Allen Stone is a wonderful expression of an old soul and a carefree hippie. His music is a mixture of blues, R&B, and funky jazzy soul. His songs are filled with conscious, soulful messages of the heart, and are delivered by perfectly through his vocals. Stone has an amazing command of his voice, and a perfect pitch to match. Allen’s band was amazing, everyone of them; keys, bass and the drummer. And it was truly a great pleasure to watch. Their interaction with the crowd was captivating.Allen Stone at the Grog Shop. Stone’s sassy version of “Say So” and his playful demeanor had the crowd dancing and they never let up. He danced around the stage with his hand on his hip, completely lost in the music.  Allen Stone is truly an independent artist, with a crazy enthusiasm for his craft and a voice that that reflexes wisdom beyond his years. At one point I felt like I was at a Todd Rundgren show, especially with Allen’s numerous encores! One of the encores included his new single “Voodoo,” which was crazy, sexy and just plain cool!

The Grog Shop’s intimate atmosphere made Allen’s show truly feel like a private party. Allen’s fans are really fun people, and the vibe in there made for an amazing party! If you ever get the chance to see Allen Stone, do it, I assure you it will be one of the best nights you will have and you will leave his show feeling so good!
