“No Room In Frame” by Death Cab for Cutie: Single Review

The second new single from Death Cab for Cutie, “No Room in Frame” was released earlier this week. The first single, titled “Black Sun”, has been previously reviewed here already, so it seems fitting that we’re able to catch this track as well. Both tracks can be found on Death Cab for Cutie’s upcoming album, Kintsugi.

The song starts off with a very dissonant sound that leads into vocals that seem to cut clean through the dissonance and begin introducing a bit more order to the backing instruments. The dissonance drifts away slowly, leaving behind a steadily paced song that moves along at a moderate rate. The vocals seem less clear as the song continues, but the blend they have with the backing music is quite relaxing to listen to.

All in all, “No Room in Frame” is quite a nice song to listen to. However I find I prefer “Black Sun” over it just a little bit, but I’m not writing off the rest of Kintsugi just yet. Kintsugi is currently set to release on March 31, 2015.
