“Lifted Up (1985)” is one of two new tracks recently released by Passion Pit, the other being “Where the Sky Hangs”. Passion Pit usually has some pretty decent songs from my exposure to them, but they’re not a group that I often deliberately seek out to listen to.
The tracks starts off with a dissonant, electronic sound, building into the high pitched vocals that give way to a lower key of vocals and a moderate pacing that easily pulls the song along. The multitude of electronic sound compliment the vocals as the song leads into the chorus, finding a middle area between the higher notes from the beginning of the song and the lower tones of the verses. The song blends it’s multitude of effects easily, blending the mix of notes together with the energetic feeling of the song.
I’ll be honest, I can’t be in the same window as the video used to post it to the band’s Vevo as I find it unsettling for some reason that I honestly can’t put my finger on, but the song itself is actually quite enjoyable, if a bit noisy for my tastes at times. Passion Pit’s new album Kindred is currently set to be released on April 21, 2015.
