Chances are you’re getting together with your sweetie this Valentine’s Day and doing something special, just the two of you. Well no matter if you’ve got a simple video chat planned or you’re going out to dinner and an early screening of Fifty Shades of Grey, at some point during the night you’re going to need some romantic jams to get into that sweet and cuddly mindset while you share you and your babe eat those chocolate covered strawberries.
Also, if you’re single, but still want to listen to good, up beat music – well we have that here for you too.
You can listen to the playlist on Spotify for absolutely free, with no fuss. But if you want a track-by-track explanation, you can get that down below.
- “Sway” by Michael Buble
Gives you and your sweetie an excuse to dance and hold each other close. If it were up to me, this whole playlist would be compromised of romantic Michael Buble songs. But thankfully I resisted.
- “I Got You” by Train
I couldn’t resist. This song gives you the chance to reflect on how perfect you and your babe are for each other, and how lucky you are to have managed to find each other. Not a lot of people are as lucky. Also, this is totally dance worthy.
- “Oh, It Is Love” by Hellogoodbye
This song to me is perfect of the moment that you realized that you were really in love with a person – which is hopefully the person you’re spending Valentine’s Day with. It could have been years before you started dating or years after, but there’s always a moment where you know you’re in love with them.
- “Rhythm of Love” by Plain White T’s
You can’t resist singing along to this song, which is the main reason why I put it on here. Singing along to songs is great, and probably clinically proven to take away stress and create happy feelings. (And if it’s not; science people, get on that. Seriously.)
- “Our Song” by Matchbox Twenty
This song to me is the eptome of what a relationship is – messing up sometimes but always coming back to each other, because you can’t picture yourself with anyone else who could make you even half as happy.
- “Still Into You” by Paramore
If you don’t think of your crush, your significant other, or someone who means a lot to you when you hear this song on the radio: you’re lying. Valentine’s Day to me is the one day of the year (aside from anniversaries) where you can look back and grin at everything your significant other and you have been through. This is exactly what that song does.
- “Sweet 16” by Green Day
While it’s not the best Green Day song, it is so sweet and filled with so much emotion. It kind of sets the standards for relationships: that point where you can just sit back and relax with your partner and know that you love each other as much as the first time you started dating.
- “Make A Move” by Gavin DeGraw
I have a confession to make. I totally stole this song off of a mixtape that my boyfriend made me. But it’s just such a perfect song for if you’re using Valentine’s Day to try and get together with someone, or if you’re just wanting an excuse to tell your babe how much you love them.
- “Mad Love” by Neon Trees
If this song isn’t on someone’s mixtape, then it should be. It’s a nice, acoustic sounding song that is so simple in words and meaning yet means the world. You can appreciate wanting to have a mad love that feels unstoppable, and if you actually have it, then you can appreciate how lucky you are to have it and how good it feels.
- “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz
If you’ve been in a relationship for a while, then you can appreciate what this song is saying. Relationships are work, and at Valentine’s Day, you can focus on that a little bit. You can be proud of how far you’ve come. And you can take the time to tell each other that you’re sticking it out through the end too.
- “Changed By You” by Between the Trees
This song is great. One of my favorites, a slow song that really almost forces you to look back at how much you and your person have been through, and how you know it’s worth it no matter what. At some point in a relationship, you know that you’ve been changed. Whether you and your person have been dating for a month or a year, this song speaks volumes.
- “Everything” by Michael Buble
I couldn’t resist. To me, this is exactly what being in love is like. Life goes on, it gets crazy, it has its down moments, but you always have that one person who makes all of it worthwhile in the end. And you never forget how lucky you are to have them.
- “I Want Crazy” by Hunter Hayes
Another song that I had to steal from my boyfriend and I’s personal stash of lovey-dovey songs. If you’re in a long distance relationship (like my boyfriend and I are) then this song holds a lot more weight than it might if you’re not. And even if you’re not in a LDR, then you can still appreciate wanting to have a love that drives you a little bit crazy sometimes.
- “Dance With Me Tonight” by Olly Murs
No one really needs an excuse to dance, but if you did, this one gives the perfect excuse. It’s the perfect way to start or end a night. And it’s infectious.
- “I Don’t Want This Night To End” by Luke Bryan
Whether you and your partner are on your first date or your hundredth, this song perfectly describes that it’s like to spend time with your sweetie and just not want it to ever end. Hopefully you didn’t want the playlist to end either.
