Fall Out Boy has been releasing songs from their upcoming album American Beauty/American Psycho pretty much constantly throughout the months of December and January – sometimes within days of each other. Having released five songs already (“Centuries”, “Immortals”, “American Beauty/American Psycho”, “The Kids Aren’t Alright”, and “Uma Thurman”), the band apparently decided to release the rest of the songs from the new album one at a time today.
Each of the 11 songs releases has come with commentary from Pete Wentz, the band’s song writer and bass player. The commentary can vary in type and length – going from deep commentary about what inspired him to write the songs to one sentence summaries.
In a recent interview with vh1, the band went over the process of making the album, as well as how important the album was to them – as a band and for their future. And with all of the talk about free music and the Spotify debate, the fact that the band has such a love for their music to release it on a free and accessible platform such as YouTube says a lot. It doesn’t go unnoticed by their loyal fans, and social media’s been a-buzz with this since Fall Out Boy announced the first song.
