Edge of a Revolution by Nickelback

I have a confession. I don’t understand why no one likes Nickelback. They have a wide range of songs and subject material for those songs. They’ve got a rock n roll sound, an awesome lead singer, and lyrics that are possible of giving you chills. I’ve been a fan of them since twelve or thirteen.

Honestly, I think all the hate that they get is just because it’s popular to hate them now.

Yesterday they dropped a new song called “Edge of A Revolution.” As a huge Nickelback fan, I went and listened to it. It was one of those songs that just speaks to you, with a message greater than most people will even realize. The song talks about how the world is on the edge of a revolution, and pointing out and making references to several things that are wrong in the world today and how we should spark a change. This isn’t the first time that they’ve produced a song provoking change, but this song has a bit of a more forceful message than the other song (“When we stand together”).

The actual song has the classic Nickelback sound that has changed very little over their career span, but as the saying goes; if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. The songs are still unique enough in their own right that I don’t get bored listening to them on repeat, and the albums have a nice flow to them that I can listen to them straight through.

So that’s just the song review. Their lyric video is a masterpiece. It’s thought provoking, setting the scene for protesters wanting to spread the message to America to open up their eyes and see what’s going on around them. The graphics are magnificent, and the lyrics clearly readable during the whole thing. Normally I don’t bother with writing reviews for lyric videos, but this one was the exception to the rule.

Over all, “Edge of a Revolution” is a fantastic song with a brilliant message. I can’t wait for the new album.
